Tired of gridlock on the trail?
The City of St. Albert is currently in the process of rolling out upgrades to the Intelligent Transportation Systems to allow for active traffic signal control. These upgrades include establishing a hardwired fibre optic network that connects traffic signals back to a central control hub.
Once this is complete, the Transportation Branch will use real-time traffic-flow measurement technology (non-intrusive traffic cameras) in collaboration with artificial intelligence to automatically adjust the timing of traffic lights, turning signals and pedestrian crosswalks based on traffic volume.
On city council, I will advocate to push forward the timeline of the implementation of adaptive traffic controls.
