Last week I met with the St. Albert Public Library Director (Peter Bailey) and learned about all the work that has gone into city council's unanimous support to go ahead with a stand alone branch library.
I learned about the urgent shortage our community is currently facing when it comes to the delivery of programs that promote learning, creativity, and interaction between fellow citizens.
Peter outlined that our library is not only a place for us to borrow books but also a community hub and gathering place that helps turn strangers into friends by providing public spaces for a variety of programs, cultural events, and social gatherings.
I see the value in more library space. I'm still learning about this topic and wanting to hear all views on this subject before I take a firm stance on this issue.
